Transmutation & Illumination - The Solstice

Our New Moon of December 13, 2012 lies in late sidereal Scorpio conjoining the recently discovered planet Quaoar (pronounced kwah-whar). The New Moon conjoins Ras Alhague, the head of Ophiuchus, and the tail of the Scorpion. The minor planet Quaoar was discovered in June of 2002. Quaoar was the name given to the “creation force” by the Native American Tongva tribe who were the original inhabitants of the Los Angeles basin in Southern California.

Quaoar impels a “harmonious revolution” and inspires our return to the “sacredness of life,” to realize all things in life are sacred, and that it is our responsibility to have respect for natural order and to live in harmony with it—without this we do not have respect for our selves.

Ophiuchus lies above and on the ecliptic, standing over the Scorpion. Ophiuchus is the demonstrable exemplar of one who has claimed mastery over the very raw creative forces governing life and death. Ophiuchus and the sidereal sign of Scorpio are associated with our education about the use of raw creative power. Our New Moon stars invite us to embrace the harsh lessons of life, and to let them serve as the elixir that allows our transmutation into illumination.

Uranus completes its retrograde on the New Moon inviting radical change and spontaneity as it and Pluto tighten in orb (less than 2°) as they approach their synodic (heliocentric) square, which occurs in late 2013. Now throughout 2013 brings stimulus to radical and revelatory action in the 138-year Uranus-Pluto synodic cycle that began on January 7, 1966.

The First Quarter Moon occurs just before the Solstice, conjoining Uranus and Pallas, and activating Earth’s Precessional Cross—stimulating dynamic creative action. Venus and Saturn begin their new synodic cycle on the Solstice as well, in early sidereal Libra. The Yod (Finger of God) that began to form in the previous lunar cycle with Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter tightens and is triggered by Venus as Venus moves to the mid-point between Saturn and Pluto conjoining Antares, and opposes retrograde Jupiter conjoined Aldebaran. Our action oriented Moon triggers the event, as the Moon squares Pluto and forms a secondary Yod with Jupiter to Saturn. All of this catalyzes the start of a dynamic New Year. The Solstice is the astronomical New Year. Thus, the solstice astrological chart, as the true New Year chart, provides insight into the entire 2013 year to come.

The revelatory Full Moon of December 28 in sidereal Gemini brings us another strong stimulus as the Sun and Moon aspect both the Uranus-Pluto Square and the Saturn-Pluto-Jupiter Yod.

Retrograde Vesta joins Jupiter toward the end of the lunar cycle on the Yod apex triggered by Mars on January 6, 2013. Vesta then takes Jupiter's place, creating the secondary Saturn-Pluto-Vesta Yod, which will continue throughout the following Lunar Cycle, with Vesta stationing on the Yod apex on January 26, just before the next Full Moon. Jupiter, after returning direct in late January 2013, will return to the Aldebaran Yod apex on the Spring Equinox in March 2013—the action point in our new solar year—which fully engages the theme and energetic of this "Finger of God."

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

November 13, 2012 New Moon Theme
Self Mastery - The Serpent & The Northern Crown

This Lunar Cycle produces a Total Solar Eclipse and a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse. The Solar Eclipse begins in Northern Australia near Darwin. It creates a southward arc, moving along the Great Barrier Reef, then just off the coast of Aukland, New Zealand, across the South Pacific, and completes just off the coast of Chile. Greatest Eclipse occurs east of New Zealand. This Southern Hemisphere Eclipse geographically compliments the Northern Hemisphere May 20 Annular Eclipse. This solar eclipse sets this energetic in motion not only for this lunar cycle but also as an underlying current for the next six months.

Chiron completes its retrograde in sidereal Aquarius a day after the New Moon, with the Moon approaching square to Chiron, stimulating a need to radically change our strategies to cross the bridges we face in our lives.

Juno, asteroid of covenant partnerships, plays a key role in this lunar cycle, one that engages early in the lunar cycle as Juno conjoins the Centaur Pholus, and the recently discovered planets, tyrannical Ixion, and then Quaoar, all in late sidereal Scorpio.

Mercury, in the midst of its retrograde in early sidereal Scorpio, begins its new 116-day synodic cycle with Earth, setting in motion a new current in the logistical aspects of our lives. Mercury completes its retrograde in this lunar cycle as well.

Venus and Saturn conjoin, and Mars and Pluto conjoin. The two conjunctions are sextile (a 60° aspect). The Saturn-Pluto sextile is a part of a forming Yod (Finger of God) to Jupiter, which culminates just after the 2012 December Solstice occurring in the following lunar cycle. The two conjunctions occurring now are pre-triggers to this event, and they set up underlying dynamics to the focus of this forming Yod. This Yod becomes a part of the energetic for the ensuing new year of 2013, which engages on the 2012 December Solstice. Jupiter and Earth also begin their new 399-day synodic cycle conjoining Aldebaran of Taurus later in the lunar cycle.

The Full Moon Eclipse of November 28 occurs in mid-sidereal Taurus conjoining the tempestuous Hyades star asterism in Taurus. The Full Moon eclipse activates the forming Yod as the Full Moon Sun arrives to the mid-point of the Venus-Saturn / Mars Pluto sextile, and the Hyades Full Moon and Jupiter converge upon Aldebaran—the apex of the Yod. This Full Moon Eclipse Yod also aspects and triggers the Uranus-Pluto square creating an extremely potent and significant event. This Lunar Cycle can produce strong geo-physical resonances, especially around the Full Moon Eclipse.

Venus and recently discovered Haumea begin their new synodic cycle in sidereal Virgo toward the end of this lunar cycle, setting in motion a new and dynamic expression of the feminine force in the world.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

October 15, 2012 New Moon Theme
Overturning the Apple Cart - Motivation for a New Birth

Our New Moon of October 15, 2012 lies in late sidereal Virgo conjoining massive and highly unstable Eta Carinae of Argo Navis. Eta Carinae is the most luminous, massive, and energetic star known in our galaxy--estimated to be 100 times the mass of our Sun, and to radiate five million times more energy than our Sun. Eta Carina is Lord of the Waves (the Akkadian Ea (Ia), the Sumerian Enki, chief god of the city Eridhu--he who warned Noah), generally is considered the foreteller of impending catastrophic evolutionary change, but also the instructor of the way through such evolutionary transitions. Also of Influence are Archturus of Bootes and Spica of Virgo. Our New Moon also lies opposite Eris, the Great Disruptor. The Sun-Moon-Earth-Eris alignment initiates the new Earth-Eris annual synodic cycle. This dynamic Lunar Cycle heralds the need for drastic change in concert with the revolutionary and revelatory Uranus-Pluto Square, which began earlier this year and continues through 2015.

Mars and Juno make their grand finale in a dynamic between the two that began in early 2012—stimulating change in relationships and partnerships of all types, how we interrelate, and stimulating a new level of creative action in relationships. Their conjunction occurring now, with Antares, Heart of the Scorpion, stimulates new and passionate creative action, a time of going forward, based upon shifts and changes we have made in our relationships throughout the year.

Our Last Quarter Moon occurs on November 6, the day of the US Presidential Election. The Moon conjoins Dubhe of Ursa Major, inspiring an inner need to create change that supports a greater vision for Earth and humanity beyond the dogmatic rhetoric and long-standing belief structures that perpetuate the undermining of human life. Mercury also begins its retrograde on November 6.

Pallas and Uranus, and Mars and Pluto begin new synodic cycles, adding yet another dynamic to the ongoing Uranus-Pluto Square.

Ceres, Vesta and Mercury begin their retrogrades in this lunar cycle as well, while Neptune completes its retrograde. Venus and Haumea join forces toward the end of the lunar cycle, another event supporting the rebirth of the feminine force in the world, perhaps also one economically related.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

September 16, 2012 New Moon Theme
Seeking the Cup of Fulfillment

Our New Moon of September 16, 2012 lies under the auspices of the Tail of the Lion and the Tail of the Great Bear. The New Moon conjoins Alkes of Crateris and Avior Carina of Argo Navis. Also of influence is Denebola of Leo, and Cor Caroli and the Super-giant Whirlpool Galaxy M51 of Canes Venatici.

This is a windy and fiery area of the zodiak, often producing grand spectacle and diversionary smoke screens. It produces motivation to seek a deeper level of fulfillment transcendent to the shenanigans occurring upon the global stage and the surface turbulence occurring in our daily lives. It also requires discernment to see the truly wise leaders with spiritual prowess and emotional maturity from those spouting principles they do not truly embody.

This lunar cycle produces the second Uranus-Pluto square, which occurs on the Crescent Moon of September 18-19. The first square occurred in late June, kicking off this few-year long portal of revolutionary and revelatory change (2012-2015). New Earth-Pallas and Earth-Uranus synodic cycles begin in this lunar month as well. The Full Moon conjoins Uranus and squares Pluto creating a potent Uranus-Full Moon Sun Pluto T-square, also bringing revelation about the need for radical transformation in our lives and in our world.

The Uranus-Pluto square helps to deconstruct those things in our lives that are not serving our greater truth and fulfillment. Many people may be feeling and experiencing endings, yet these endings are forcing us to seek a deeper truth and to live truer to self and to what really matters in life—attuned to our inner heartlight. The Uranus-Pluto square acts as a great equalizer, bringing us to realize our common humanity. The endings we may be experiencing in our personal lives and in the world at large catalyze new beginnings and new discoveries that serve our greater nourishment and future wellbeing. There is nothing to fear and everything to embrace as we move through the remainder of this year, through the December Solstice, and into the years that follow.

There are several significant triggers to both the Uranus-Pluto Square and to Earth’s Precessional Cross in this lunar cycle, especially between the Crescent Moon and the Full Moon, bringing continual stimulus for revolutionary change in our lives.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology

Breaking Trail into Unknown Territory: An Intuitive Process

Our New Moon of Aug 17, 2012 lies upon the Leo cusp under the auspices of the Head of the Lion and the hind legs of the Great Bear. The New Moon conjoins Subra, the paw of the Lion, the stars of Pyxidis of Argo Navis, and Alpha Pictoris. These stars are of exploration and discovery, of uncovering maps and codices hidden by the sands of time, of seeking new land about to emerge from the æther and through the mist obscuring our sojourns through life.

This lunar cycle produces the second Pallas-Uranus conjunction squaring Pluto. The first occurred in late June, kicking off the 2012-2015 Uranus-Pluto Square. The three are all now retrograde as they create their tight formation once again, creating the next stimulus in this few-year long portal of revolutionary and revelatory time of change. The artistic expression of creative brilliance for radical solution beyond the crumbling old paradigm is the theme of this initial gateway heralding us into our unknown future.

Venus, still in the start of her new Earth-Venus 584-day synodic cycle, which began on the Venus Transit, continues her profound influence, now creating new cycles with Eris, influencing financial resources, and with Sedna, influencing the re-emergence and empowerment of the feminine force on Earth. The Venus-Eris theme kicks in on our First Quarter Moon’s stimulus to action. The Venus-Sedna theme engages later in the lunar cycle, on the Venus-Balsamic Moon, and at the same time as the start of the new 3.5-year Mars-Juno synodic cycle. The Mars-Juno cycle begins in Ophiuchus and under the auspices of Ras Algethi, the Head of Hercules, and the Great Attractor (a supercluster of galaxies). This is a profound and tremendously significant cycle for partnerships and relationships of all types.

Other new synodic cycles starting in this lunar cycle include Earth-Neptune, Earth-Chiron, and the new 7-year Ceres-Jupiter cycle starting in Taurus the Bull, the progenitor of life and constellation of the Venus Transit. All of these events impel adventurous creative exploration into unknown territory to discover new and radical alternatives to how we live, are nurtured and co-participate on Earth.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

July 19, 2012 New Moon Theme
Portals of Unique Opportunity

Our New Moon of July 19, 2012 (July 18 MST) lies just into early sidereal Cancer. It conjoins Procyon of Canis Minor and Alsciaukat of the Lynx, with Samoht of the Unicorn and Aludra of Canis Major influencing. Procyon, the 8th brightest star in the sky, is one of the five stars creating the “Egyptian X,” along with Betelgeuse of Orion, Naos of the Argo, and Phaet of the Dove; with the center star being Sirius, our impetuous world teacher. Procyon portends wealth, renown and good fortune through allegiance with others, or to a greater cause, purpose or faction. Unique opportunities may arise within this lunar cycle but they require moment-by-moment attentiveness and response to the unique and out of the ordinary events and people appearing in our everyday lives, lest what are magical doorways briefly appearing may be lost.

Venus continues to have significant emphasis in this lunar cycle, as it just begins to express the new Earth-Venus 584-day synodic cycle theme that began on the Venus Transit. Venus begins several new cycles, with the Centaur Nessus, Neptune, Chiron, Pallas and Uranus. Venus now becomes our morning star as it synchronizes with the Balsamic Moon, which will be seen together in the eastern sky on August 13 just before sunrise. Venus’ new dawn placement in her new cycle impels us to draw forth a new level of the feminine force now available within ourselves and to begin to bring it outward into our life’s expression.

Jupiter moves into position to mobilize and expand upon the Uranus-Pluto Square, which is just beginning and continues through 2015. Venus will also aspect the Uranus-Pluto Square later in the lunar cycle, all motivating progressive and wide-sweeping change. Mercury will also begin its new 116-day synodic cycle with Earth, setting a new tone in the logistical aspects of our lives. Mercury will complete is retrograde later in this lunar cycle. Mars conjoins Saturn in opposition to Eris later in the lunar cycle as well. Eris' stellar placement and very slow movement is significantly effecting upheaval in our financial paradigm.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

The Solstice New Moon
Revolution & Revelation of the Heart: The Uranus-Pluto Square Begins

Our New Moon of June 19, 2012 conjoins the Gate of Man in early sidereal Gemini. The Solstice occurs on June 20, 2012, a day after the New Moon. The Gate of God and the Gate of Man, at 5° sidereal Sagittarius and Gemini respectively, are the two nodes of an axis in the ecliptic created by the intersection of the galactic plane and the ecliptic plane, also called the galactic equatorial axis. This is the fixed axis of Earth’s Precessional Cross. The vernal axis, created by the intersection of Earth’s equatorial plane and the ecliptic, is ‘currently’ ~90° to the galactic equatorial axis. The vernal axis moves in the ecliptic with respect to the galactic equatorial axis due to Earth's precession creating the ~25,000-year Cycle of Earth’s Precessional Cross.

The New Moon’s occurrence on one of the four nodes of the precessional cross brings our attention to the greater evolutionary transition that is currently taking place on Earth due to the formation of the perfect cross at this time in Earth’s ~25,000-year precessional cycle.

Sidereal Gemini is of high intensity intellectual communication, information, commerce, goods and services, and of their exchange. The Twins are of partnerships in mutual cooperation participating in the human world, linking and uniting through their daily affairs in the world. The Gemini Twins work hand-in-hand for the betterment and evolutionary fulfillment of humankind.

Also conjoining the Gate of Man and our Solstice New Moon are Betelgeuse of Orion, Menkalinan of Auriga the Charioteer, and several other stars. The Gate of Man and stars of this area of the zodiak impel responsive and immediate action to events occurring in the world and in our lives. They impel cooperation and mutual support amongst humankind.

Several key events occur in this lunar cycle, the most prominent and significant one is the Uranus-Pluto Square. This is the first trigger of this square, which starts now and continues into 2015. The asteroid Pallas, applier of truth, wisdom and justice, joins forces with the intellectual brilliance of revolutionary and inventive Uranus, adding a powerful dynamic to the opening of this event. This Uranus-Pluto Square is the first square in the 138-year Uranus-Pluto cycle that began in 1965, at the time of the Vietnam War and the uprising against it by the Flower Power Political Movement, which catalyzed a profound cultural transition. See “Revolution & Revelation: The Uranus-Pluto Square.” This lunar cycle begins our “stimulus to action” in this 138-year cycle.

The Venus Transit occurring in the last lunar cycle is not an isolated event that has come and gone. There are several continuing events that occur with Venus that augment the initial infusion of energy set in motion during the Venus Transit. Venus also begins its new synodic cycle with Pluto on the New Moon, adding to the nature of this lunar cycle and to the Uranus-Pluto Square. Venus completes its retrograde just after the First Quarter action-impelling Moon, fully engaging the new 584-day Earth-Venus Synodic Cycle and the energetic catalyzed by the Venus Transit. The First Quarter Moon also aspects the Uranus-Pluto Square and Venus creating a power-packed stimulus to action (June 25 through June 27).

Mars also conjoins the recently discovered Dwarf Planet Makemake (pronounced MAH-keh MAH-keh) at the same time. All of these events bring emphasis to a new feminine-based form of leadership, as well as stimulating financial matters, the management of resources, and to the economy in general.

Earth and Pluto begin their new synodic cycle in the midst of the Uranus-Pluto Square, just before the Gibbous Moon. This means that the Sun, Earth and Pluto align while square to Uranus and Pallas. This is an extremely potent planetary configuration, another of several catalysts for revolutionary action in our lives. Our Full Moon creates yet another potent event on July 2 and 3 as the Moon conjoins Pluto and squares Pallas-Uranus along with several other planets in the mix that can stimulate tremendous creativity and personal realizations.

This is an incredibly powerful yet very progressive lunar cycle, one to expect anything. It stimulates tremendous creative opportunity and it demands we stay centered in the heart with unconditional openness and compassion.

May 20, 2012 New Moon Theme
Seeding a New Tone on Earth
The Pleiades-Perseus Annular Solar Eclipse & the 2012 Venus Transit

Our New Moon of May 20, 2012 produces an Annular Solar Eclipse conjoining the Pleiades in the early sidereal Taurus. It lies under the auspices of Perseus. This lunar cycle also produces a partial Lunar Eclipse on the Full Moon of June 4. This is a pivotal and power-house packed lunar cycle with a plethora of astronomical events including the pinnacle and prominent Venus Transit occurring on June 5 (June 6 GMT).

The Annular Eclipse, a spectacular event, will be seen at sunrise in Japan and at sunset throughout most of the north-west American continent, with the path of the Eclipse moving up the coast of Japan, across the Aleutian islands of Alaska, and into northern California, across Nevada, southern Utah, northern Arizona, New Mexico and western Texas.

An eclipse of this nature creates a relaxation and re-stimulation both in Earth’s energy grid and in our neurobiological resonance providing an opportunity to release the past and engage in a fresh start. Although occurring in the Taurus constellation and sidereal sign, which is somewhat stabilizing, it lies in one of a few tempestuous areas of Taurus, in this case produced by the nebulous Pleiades star asterism. The Pleiades and the conjoining stars of Perseus, in part, stimulate physical heroic action to seed new paths forward in our lives and to create infrastructures that support our fundamental nourishment and domestic wellbeing.

The long awaited 2012 Venus Transit, occurring just after the Full Moon Eclipse, is due to a direct alignment between the Sun, Venus and Earth. This creates energetic corridor that emblazes the astrophysical resonances of Venus into Earth’s energy matrix and into our lives. This alignment also begins a new and very significant 584-day Earth-Venus synodic cycle. This is not an isolated event that merely comes and goes. The energetic nature of this event is composed of many planetary alignments occurring before and after this event, and it nests within many other planetary cycles that uniquely augment the tone of this transit, including this very significant Eclipse Lunar Cycle, one of several key events that makes this Transit extra significant compared to the first Venus Transit of this pair, which occurred in June 2004.

Juno, the asteroid of covenant relations, continues to play a significant role. Venus and Juno also begin a new synodic cycle in Ophiuchus earlier in the lunar cycle, creating an entirely new energetic for partnerships of all types.

In addition, there are several compounding planetary events directly involving Venus that uniquely define the energetic nature of this transit and the Earth-Venus cycle to follow. A Venus-Mars square occurs at the time of the transit, with Mars being the focus of a Sun-Venus Mars Pholus-Ixion Full Moon T-square. This impels an action-oriented stimulus to creatively apply the feminine principle in audacious leadership. This sets the tone for many years to come.

Venus and Earth not only align and begin a new syndic cycle, but Earth and Venus also align with the Centaur Pholus and the recently discovered planets Ixion and Quaoar in a few-day period surrounding the transit. Thus, several compounded synodic cycles all begin at this time. All of this leads into the first and very potent Uranus-Pluto square, which occurs just after the following Solstice New Moon of June 19, 2012.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

April 21, 2012 New Moon Theme
Self-initiated Action for Attainment

Our New Moon of April 21, 2012 lies in the midst of several planets in sidereal Aries. The New Moon is flanked by Vesta and Eris, and Ceres and Jupiter. Simultaneously, several new synodic cycles (planetary alignments with the Sun) begin, all producing another dynamic New Moon and lunar cycle. Venus and Mars begin a new 347-day cycle. Venus and Mars also make their alignment opposite Uranus, which marks the midpoints of the Venus-Uranus and Mars-Uranus synodic cycles. This alignment (Mars-Venus-Sun-Uranus) squares the new Mercury-Pluto synod, stimulating a strong and potent solar force expressing through our New Moon. The New Moon lies just in front of the Head of the Ram, marked by Mesartim of Aries, and conjoins several additional stars entering this area of earlier sidereal Aries, including Mirach of Andromeda and the fiery Fornax Spiral Galaxy. This is a hot and fiery part of the zodiak, one that impels self-initiated action for attainment.

This is also the first New Moon after Mars returned direct from its retrograde. Thus, this Martian force, stimulating our creative power in assertive action, fully engages in this lunar cycle. Things start to move once again.

The relentless Grand Square created by Mars, Juno and the Lunar Nodes, and Chiron and Neptune, which has been in place for more than two lunar cycles, remains active as we enter this lunar cycle. It continues to provide a sense of tension and challenge in our lives, but one that will quickly release us into dynamic new expressions later in this lunar cycle.

Several key events begin on what will be a fortuitous Last Quarter Moon. They create a significant shift and progressive opening from what has been a rather intense last few lunar months. A special one involves the Sun, Jupiter and Sedna, which is and will continue to be extremely significant for females and which is a significant catalyst supporting the re-emergence of feminine force in the world.

The long-standing Grand Square finally dissolves as Mars creates an opening, a Grand Trine portal with Mercury-Vesta and Pluto, bringing opportunity for creative movement in new directions, which may have been formulating but held in check over the last few lunar cycles.

Venus also begins its retrograde at this time, aspecting the Saturn-Eris opposition, which will lead into the 2012 Venus Transit occurring in early June and into the start of a new Earth-Venus 584-day synodic cycle.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

March 22, 2012 New Moon Theme
The Turning: Radical Change Begins

Our New Moon of March 22, 2012 conjoins retrograde Mercury and Uranus in early sidereal Pisces. Conjoining stars include Diphda of Cetus, Alpha Sculptoris and the Sculptor Galaxy, Eta Cepheus and Eta Horologium. Also of influence is Scheat of the great Square of Pegaus and the foundation of the polar axis of our Galaxy.

Our Uranian-Mercurial New Moon with these star alignments stimulates elevated and progressive intellectual inventiveness to evolve our lives and our world beyond our antiquated and tormenting technobureaucratic driven paradigm. A sense of impending time dominates the air as this lunar cycle heralds us into a revolutionary and revelatory few-year period ahead. Unexpected, spontaneous radical change is highlighted. It especially invites us to reexamine what we are doing with our fundamental life force in our every day lives, and if this is in alignment with the evolutionary changes at hand.

The stimulating and challenging Grand Square that formed in the previous lunar cycle continues as retrograde Mars squares the Lunar Nodes and stationing Juno while opposing Chiron. This continues to motivate dynamic action to redefine how we interrelate and participate on Earth, and to create new bridges into a healthy societal future. Juno, the asteroid of covenant relationships, begins its four-month retrograde creating a shifting and sorting period for partnerships of all types.

Mars will complete its retrograde later in this lunar cycle at the same time Pluto begins its retrograde on the Disseminating Moon. Occurring on April 10-13, this few day period marks “The Turning,” where we may feel a wall of fiery pent-up energy that must express. How it expresses (creatively or destructively) is a function of the transformations we all have made regarding how we are using our creative power throughout the entire Mars retrograde period, which began in January, and also based upon events or changes initiated in our lives occurring in mid-November of 2011. This Turning leads us into an accelerated squeeze as we approach the first of seven triggers of the Uranus-Pluto Square, which starts after the June 6 Venus Transit and continues into 2015.

Seismic Alert: Several planetary configurations occurring in this lunar cycle can produce extreme Earthgrid resonances that can result in significant seismic events. These include the March 22, 2012 New Moon Earth-Moon-Mercury-Sun-Uranus alignment, and the few days around it. The Uranus-Sun resonance is focused through Mercury, which acts like a spherical harmonic lens, to the Moon-Earth alignment. This creates a laser-like columnar beam of catalytic energy into Earth’s core that re-distributes throughout the Earth Grid and into Human Consciousness. This initial impulse sets up a sustained resonance expressing throughout this lunar cycle that is further stimulated and activated by additional geometric/harmonic configurations occurring as the Sun-Moon partiles progress.

These include the First Quarter Moon of March 30, which consists of a Moon-Sun-Pluto T-square; the Disseminating Moon of April 10, which involves a Lunar Node-Juno-Venus-Mars geometry; and the Last Quarter Moon of April 13. This coincides with the Pluto-Mars “Turning” of April 10-13. The sustaining Grand Square involving retrograde Mars and the Lunar Nodes compounds all of these configurations. The Mercury-Uranus New Moon in early sidereal Pisces (in resonance with the Galactic Polar Axis) may produce unexpected water related events as well. This Lunar Cycle nests upon Earth’s Precessional Cross, thus stimulating dynamic evolutionary change. Whether manifest as seismic-related events or not, this lunar cycle impels us to make prominent and radical changes in our lives, to attune to what really matters in life, which is merely a prerequisite for what is to come as we now enter the few-year long Uranus-Pluto square in the 138-year Uranus-Pluto cycle that began in January 1966.

This lunar cycle may seem somewhat intense and dynamic, but it ultimately brings us to a greater humanitarian focus.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more—the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives—based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

February 21, 2012 New Moon Theme
The Diamond of Aquarius

Our New Moon of February 21, 2012 lies in early sidereal Aquarius conjoining Neptune, Pallas and Chiron. The New Moon ensemble conjoins Sandaled of Aquarius, Enif of Pegasus, and Fomalhaut of Pisces Australis. This is a very fortuitous location in the Humanitarian Waterbearer, one that nourishes the body of humanity. Fomalhaut, one of the Four Royal stars of the zodiak, is the voice of humanity as a whole and brings attention to humanity's fundamental needs. Fomalhaut and associated stars impel us to seek ways to create an evolved humanitarian-based and flourishing society, one free from segregations and inequalities. They inspire new ideas and pursuits in the art-sciences and in social issues of the world. They are of the human populous and the flow of resources within that populous that creates a wholesome human condition.

Although inspired by a fortuitous and optimistic New Moon, we enter into a plethora of intense and stimulating planetary aspects and new cycles in this lunar month, both opportunistic and highly challenging at the same time. Retrograde Mars forms a “Grand Trine” with Pluto and Venus-Jupiter, opening an opportunistic doorway in a grand way. At the same time, retrograde Mars creates a “Grand Square” with Pallas, Chiron, Juno and the Lunar Nodes.

In essence, the First Quarter Moon of February 29 kicks off this intense stimulus as the Grand Square starts to form. The opportunistic Grand Trine follows, peaking on the Last Quarter Moon of March 14. Redefining the use of creative power and applying artistic creative intelligence toward humanitarian justice becomes a key theme. Relationships and how we interrelate become the other strong focus. This entire cycle produces challenging stimulus to cross a threshold that will lead us into what will become an incredibly transformative time over the next few years.

The best way I can describe this is to imagine walking over a long rope-railed wooden hand bridge suspended over a several-thousand foot abyss. You are half way across through what has already been a perilous journey. Trembling, or in the glee of insanity perhaps, you wonder how in the world you will ever make it across. You look back to see only the remains of broken wooden planks, most of which have fallen into the abyss below due to the weight of your struggles thus far. There is no going back, nor do you see what lies ahead through the tempestuous swirling fog around you. There is but one choice--to forge onward into a definitively unknown future.

Mars, in the midst of its retrograde, also begins its new 780-day Earth-Mars synodic cycle in this lunar month (discussed at some length in my District Zodiac article). The retrograde period itself, in a windy and fiery area of the zodiak, is a time of shifting gears from the previous 780-day Earth-Mars cycle into the next--a time of redefining the use and expression of our creative power in the world. Saturn also recently began its retrograde, adding to the complex. Mercury will begin its retrograde in this lunar cycle as well, which will start a new Earth-Mercury synodic cycle.

All of this leads into the next New Moon, which conjoins Mercury and Uranus, producing another dynamic lunar cycle motivating radical spontaneous change and transformation. Juno, asteroid of partnerships and relationships of all types, maintains prominence and begins its retrograde on the North Lunar Node on the next New Moon as well, initiating a shifting-gears and sorting process for relationships.

These next two lunar months merely precede entry in the extremely potent Uranus-Pluto Square, a revolutionary and revelatory time occurring from 2012 through 2015. This few year long square is the first square in the Uranus-Pluto 138-year cycle that began in 1965-1966, at the exact time of the peak of the Vietnam war and the emergence of the anti-war Flower Power Political Movement, which initiated a major social-political change for humanity. These few months also lead into the Venus retrograde, which culminates with the Venus Transit in June 2012, a “Passage of the Heart,” which reveals the way through the intense times ahead, and which will emblazon the desperately needed feminine principle on Earth for those that can embrace it. The changes we make in our lives and the paths we choose to pursue in this lunar cycle and those ahead may define our future.

These are just a few of many events occurring in the immediate period ahead. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events, their meaning and more--the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives--based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

January 23, 2012 New Moon Theme
With Global Vision: Redefining the use of our Creative Power

Our New Moon of January 23, 2012 occurs in early sidereal Capricorn, which begins the first lunar cycle of 2012. The New Moon conjoins Altair, Eye of the Eagle.

This area of the zodiak can involve a diversely-intented group of individuals and levels of consciousness, those either covert, manipulative and driven from self-interest (as the character of the old business & military paradigms), and those spiritually aware, of integrity, and who are attuned to the land and environment, including shamans and keepers of sacred knowledge and sacred ways.

Early sidereal Capricorn is of personal motive and secrecy, of esoteric knowledge, religion, higher education, and science; as well as the secret places and orders associated with such, or merely places of personal retreat and seclusion--but places strategic to one's purpose. Here we find locations such as military-scientific-extraterrestrial bases, hermitages, exclusive retreats, or isolated places with a spiritual focus--sacred sites or places of power under the care of their mysterious stewards. We also find an arsenal of strategic tools (technological or magikal), to either aid or control humanity as well as the skill to use them; and this includes our personal arsenals of strategic tools.

This is also where an eloquent and artful play of seduction and consent co-exists; but also one that can be insidiously cunning or even voraciously violent. Hear lies the nature of the tools of business and war: the interplay of people in their sexy disguises, whether cloaked in the eloquent and sleek stealth jet, particle beam laser based satellites; or merely dressed in seductive leather and lace.

Mars begins a significant 12-week retrograde in sidereal Leo on the New Moon. This begins the transition from the previous 780-day Earth-Mars synodic cycle into the next cycle. The new synodic cycle starts in the midst of the retrograde on March 3, in the following lunar cycle. The theme of the new cycle will fully engage when Mars returns direct in mid-April. Mars will then move onward to make its synchronistic square with the Venus Transit in early June. The retrograde period, starting now, provides a time to redefine our vitality and passion, and how we are using our creative power in the world. It invites us to set a new direction in our lives with momentous ramifications that will effect the evolutionary course for Earth and humanity.

Saturn also begins its retrograde in this lunar cycle, on the Full Moon of February 7. Earth and Saturn will engage in a new 378-day synodic cycle in the midst of its retrograde in mid-April, at the same time that Mars completes its retrograde. The new Earth-Saturn synod will align with the significant stars, Spica of Virgo and Archturus of Bootes, which will define the theme of this new year-long synodic cycle.

These are just a few of many events occurring in this lunar cycle that will kick off what should be dynamic and transformative New Year. The Monthly Lunar Planner explores the details of these events and more--the underlying cosmic currents upon which we evolve and which guide our daily lives--based in star-level astronomical astrology and synodic astrology.

This year, 2012, merely begins what will become a dynamic few year period of radical transformation--initiated by the people and for the people--that is, for all of us to take the lead to re-invent our lives and our world. This year, it matters not where we have been, nor where we are. It matters where we are going.

The New Moon of January 23, 2012 also marks the start of the "Lunar New Year." In Chinese astrology, this begins the year of the Dragon, occurring in the Water Element of the Chinese five elements--thus 2012 is of the Water Dragon. The last Water Dragon occurred in 1952.

The Dragon is a revered divine creature, a symbol of abundance, prosperity, great fortune and of intense power and authority. The Dragon is fearless, self-confident, non-conforming and demands freedom and respect. The Dragon impels enterprising accomplishment and success on a grand scale. Dragon in the water element is somewhat softened. Water Dragon is innovative, imaginative, perceptive and artful. It is compassionate and caring for the needs of the people.

In astronomical myth, the Dragon encircles the North Ecliptic Pole, the crown of the soul. The head of Dorado, the Golden Fish, lies at the South Ecliptic Pole, the foundational seat of the soul. Dorado is of the large coryphaena family of the tropical seas, of changing colors at death. Dorado articulates the golden light of the soul. The Dragon is protector of the ecliptic pole, the axis of the soul. The Dragon, adorned in golden riches, articulates the true wealth of the soul, the golden light it protects.
