Kasatochi Volcano erupts on August 7, 2008 spewing tremendous mounts of ash and sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere reforming this atoll in the Alaska Aleutian Islands. The sulfur dioxide cloud has been drifting across most of North America and is starting to reach Europe in late August. The sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere continues to produce beautiful and dramatic sunsets across most of North America through all of August and into September. The large amount of sulfur dioxide produced by this eruption can potentially effect a fractional lower global temperature and altered weather patterns. How much, of course, is unknown.

The eruption of Kasatochi occurred just after the Dual YOD aspect of Aug 6, 2008, created primarily by the potent Mars Uranus opposition. It also occured in the 24-hr crescendo of the also potent First Quarter Moon Lunar Node T-Square. This was in the Eclipse Lunar Cycle of Aug 1, 2008 - Aug 30, 2008.

(The New Moon produced a Total Solar Eclipse and the Full Moon produced a Partial Lunar Eclipse.)

It is typical for earthgrid events to occur in the crescendo of a lunar trigger, aspecting nodes and the local space.

The following is a timeline of events and an excerpt from the August 1, 2008 Lunar Planner regarding these primary First Quarter Moon planetary geometries.

Timeline of Reports (AVO)

Wednesday, August 6, 2008 7:17 07:17:45 PM AKDT
Over the past 12 hours earthquake activity in the greater vicinity of Kasatochi volcano has increased rapidly. Underground movement of molten lava is suspected.

Thursday, August 7, 2008 1:57 01:57:34 PM AKDT (Report)
Earthquake activity continues and now accompanied by periods of volcanic tremor.

Thursday, August 7, 2008 3:26 03:26:35 PM AKDT (Report
Satellite data shows ash plume to an altitude of at least 35,000 ft.

Friday, August 8, 2008 4:00 04:00:57 PM AKDT (Report)
Three major explosive eruptions occured at Kasatochi between approximately 2200 UTC (14:00 AKDT) on 07 August and 0435 UTC on 08 August (20:35 AKDT on 07 August). Ash from these explosions reached at least 45,000 ft above sea level. Ash emissions became continuous following the last explosive event and have produced a continuous ash cloud extending for more than 500 miles in a counterclockwise spiral. Lunar Planner Excerpt

Uranus & Mars

Uranus Mars Opposition

Uranus and Mars oppose each other on August 6, creating a very potent dynamic. A Moon Mercury trigger occurs, with the two creating a Yod (Finger of God) to Uranus, thus the focus being one of revolution and radical change challenging our use of creative power.

Also in the mix is retrograde Neptune and the asteroid Ceres. Ceres and Mars also create a Yod to Neptune, with Mercury and Neptune in opposition.

First Quarter Moon

The First Quarter Moon of each lunar cycle draws an external stimulus to initiate action as we move from the inspirational quarter of the lunar cycle into the action quarter.

This First Quarter Moon occurs on August 8 in sidereal Libra.

First Quarter Moon Chiron T-Square

Hours before First Quarter Moon, Juno returns direct from its retrograde and contributes to our "external stimulus to action." This marks the full commencement of the Juno-Earth Synodic Cycle that began on June 12, 2008. The theme of this Juno synodic cycle was defined by Ras Alhague, the head of Ophiuchus. Here we are motivated to participate from a place of self-mastery in our relations; and interactions in our relationships may add to create our challenge to act upon our unfolding lunar theme. This also marks a time of commencement for relationships--movement forward.

Our First Quarter Moon conjoins Zubenelgenubi in sidereal Libra. Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali in modern illustrations are shown as the scales or balance of Libra. In a much older imaging however, these stars were the claws of the Scorpion--an image revealing a far greater understanding about our incarnational experience and purpose on Earth.

Zubenelgenubi and Zubeneschamali are the karmic and dharmic seats for humanity, the former about our past experience and patterns of growth, and the latter about our future path of experience and growth, that which we have yet to do, our capacity, or duty in a sense, to do it differently--to grow and change.

Alignments with Zubenelgenubi, Libra's southern balance, or the Scorpion's southern claw, indicate a responsibility to address or complete any entrapping situations created in a previous incarnation--unfinished business, or simply entrapping patterns and scenarios in this life. Zubenelgenubi also marks Saturn's exalted location in the ecliptic--Saturn fittingly called the lord of karmic retribution.

In addition, the Moon creates a T-square with the Sun on the South Lunar Node and Chiron on the North Lunar Node. This dynamic makes our action quite clear. But let us look at this Chiron alignment first.

Chiron's New Synodic Cycle

Earth and Chiron exactly align (looking form the Sun) just after First Quarter Moon on Aug 10 in late sidereal Capricorn marking the start of a new year-long Chiron Synodic Cycle. As mentioned, looking from Earth, Chiron also conjoins the North Lunar Node while the Sun aligns with the South Lunar Node. This brings a strong magnetic focus to Chiron. Chiron lies a bit north of the ecliptic in the constellation of Aquarius, and this latter part of the sidereal sign of Capricorn is the overlap area of the two constellations (Cap and Aqu), which expands the rather self-focused quality of earlier Capricorn to one more embracing with concern and caring for our extended family members and friends.

Chiron is known to be associated with healing, and specifically with the discovery of new health and healing modalities. Chiron also serves as a bridge to cross from one place to another, typically between the realms of Uranus and Saturn--hence bringing new discoveries (Uranus) into the world of function and application (Saturn), and expanding upon that which is concretized and established to a radical, spontaneous, and unexpected exploration.

This synod residing at the same ecliptical location as the current orbital crossing points of the Moon's orbit and Earth's orbit (the lunar nodes), magnetically draws us to explore the new and unknown (Chiron North Node), to leave that which is visible, our old patterns of behavior, perceptions of self, and our current roles in the world (Sun South Node).

Earth and Chiron reside under the auspices of Delphinus, the Dolphin star system, which lies in the northern heavens over the Capricorn-Aquarius overlap, and they conjoin the principal star Sualocin, Alpha Delphinus.

Sualocin of Delphinus offers guidance for those willing to trust in greater forces than their personal efforts can generate alone. The Dolphins, an expression of angelic dominion, are guides for the wayward, as old salts know. They reveal the way to make safe passage to our destination, to our greater nourishment and fulfillment, provided we listen to and participate in the serendipity of life.

To experience in the serendipity of life requires we surrender the pre-occupations of reasoning mind, those of worry and our need to define and control, of what we "think" we "should" be doing. It instead requires us to be attentive to and trust any subtle impulses we may feel at any given moment--to move with the Divine Intelligence that permeates and fluidly guides our lives. Here lies the art of getting out of our own way to allow creative solutions that lead us from the conforming bounds of limited mind.

Thus, our new year-long Chiron Synodic Cycle asks that we allow ourselves to be led to new discoveries in our lives, to be led across a bridge, one we may not entirely see. The nature of the bridge, and the areas in our lives in which it forms, is of course unique to each person depending on the location of this alignment in our personal charts.

Returning to our First Quarter Moon T-square:
Lunar Node T-squares work like this. The south node alignments reveal our old patterns, those comfy-cozy old modes of behavior, while the north node alignments reveal a new direction to move, to bring the south node energetic through a new expression revealed by the north node. That which is squaring the nodes reveals an issue or stimulus. In this case the Moon is separating in square from the south node and approaching square to the north node, thus the issue in this case is serving as a emotional stimulus to take creative action--in concert with the very nature of the First Quarter Moon as well. (If the squaring object were separating from the north node and approaching the south node the issue would have the character of producing an inner need to change.)

It is not uncommon for the issue (that which is squaring the nodes) to grab our attention because the energy builds here as tension that needs to release like an arrow from a bow. So it is important to not lose site of goal by getting consumed in the issue. The goal is to move from the south node patterns to the new north node pathway. We must simply deal with the issue and make the move.

In this case, our First Quarter Zubenelgenubi Moon is the issue (our stimulus to action) at hand. Thus the stimulus of this T-square (and of the First Quarter Moon) has to do with our existing patterns of growth, perhaps entrapments, the reasons why we may feel stuck, our engrained existing life scenarios, even long-standing karmic scenarios and perhaps our existing relationships (remember Juno turning direct just before First Quarter). This arising "issue" creates an emotional tension to take action.

The action thus becomes clear by the lunar nodal axis--to take the steps at hand that will move our exisiting, sense of self, who we "think" we are, or our role in the world and to cross an emotional bridge we are currently facing. However, we must trust that we will be guided (Delphinus), provided we take the action first (First Quarter Moon). This is much like needing to take a step off a shear drop into an apparent abyss with a foot-bridge only appearing after the step is taken...
